Pros

  • Precise temperature control to the degree
  • Slow, controllable gooseneck pour
  • Holds temperature for an hour
  • Looks good on a counter

Cons

  • Pricey for a kettle
  • 0.9 L capacity is small for a crowd

The Stagg EKG is the kettle we reach for every morning. The variable temperature dial means light roasts get 96 °C and delicate teas get 80 °C without guesswork, and the counterbalanced handle makes a slow spiral pour easy even half-awake.

It is not cheap. If you only brew French press or use a machine, a basic stovetop gooseneck does the job for a third of the price. But for pour-over, the control it gives is the difference between a cup that tastes flat and one that tastes like the bag promised.
